About the Founder
I graduated from Emory University on May 13, 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I've been interested in promoting stroke awareness since my grandfather suffered his first stroke in 2008. At that time, I knew very little about stroke. After doing some research on the web, I was shocked how easily I could have identified the signs of a stroke and how important each second was during that episode.
Within the last 10 years, I have seen what stroke can do especially at a personal scale. Several of my family members were claimed by stroke. In recent events, my grandfather, a three time stroke survivor, passed away on May 15 2010.
Stroke today poses as the biggest disabling disease known to mankind. Before 2030, stroke is set to become the world’s largest killer. Stroke is a disease that needs to be met with a cure, a problem that needs a solution. I agree that today intense research needs to be done in such diseases like malaria, HIV, and cancer. I also agree however that stroke research has been severely neglected and ignored by the public. Stroke can not be ignored.
I plan to pursue a career in the medical field and join the movement to not only promote stroke awareness but also to treat those suffering from it.
